D is for Decapitated.

With a name like Decapitated, is there any need to question what kind of music they play? This critically acclaimed technical death metal band was formed in 1996 in Krosno, Poland.

I have an anti cooking food blog called I Don't Cook, on which I regale readers with tales of frozen dinners and take-away meals. How is this relevant you ask? Most of my readers are from Poland, so I was really hoping I would find a Polish band good enough to make the cut. As it turned out they nearly didn't make it. I had the slot filled with a Greek band called Distortion of Perception, but during my research, I discovered they had disbanded many years ago. Only bands who are still producing new music and touring qualified for this A to Z. I stumbled on Decapitated as I searched through a list of wannabe 'D' bands.

Decapitated is: Waclaw Kietyka (guitar), Rafal Piotrowski (vocals), Michal Lysejko (drums), and Hubert Wiecek (bass).Their last studio release was Blood Mantra (2014) This track is called Instinct

  1. Not a huge fan of this style of music yet I actually really liked this. Reminded me of my youth, well 4 years ago youth.
Thank you for sharing this group

    1. Not my favourite metal genre, but this song is good. Tight, technically superb. Your youth 4 years ago? So what...you're 29? Still a baby. I've got nearly 20 years on you. Thanks for visiting Square Pegs and for taking the time to comment.

  2. Interesting about your food blog being popular in Poland. My IG account has a disproportionate amount of followers from Argentina. Never been there, never posted about there.
The song kind of grows on you too

    1. It's weird Geraint. I thought it was a mistake re Poland, but apparently its fair dinkum, and I can't work out why. As far as technical death metal goes, these guys are guns: technically superb.

  3. I tried to listen... honestly I did. It reminded me so much of when my heavy metal son was living at home and this was what emanated from his room or from his car stereo.... I tolerated it then because I'm his mum and I love him and I was in his car... but now... I get to stop the music. It did remind me of my boy very much

    1. You're awesome oszzypip. What are you doing here? Metal's not your thing, but you find a positive angle and take the time to share it with me. Thank you. Stay tuned, tomorrows band will be more to your liking. Spoiler alert: it's metal with a violin, a harp and a hurdi-gurdi. How could you resist that?

None of my family or close friends are headbangers, so I can usually only crank it up when I'm alone. That way no one can tell me to turn it down. You know it sounds better when it's loud. Thanks again.

  4. Heavy metal is not my kind of music. Still, I did listen for a while and it wasn't so bad after all. Thanks for visiting my post.

    1. Very brave Suzy. I admire open-mindedness. I'm hoping to break stereotypical views of heavy metal and metal heads. I once heard a radio jock tell a young fella who called his program, a moron and wouldn't accept his opinion because everyone who listens ot heavy metal has mental problems. Extreme stereotype sure, but even my ex wife used to tell me HM was 'crazy person' music. Each to his own, right? I can't stand opera, but I don't say it's rubbish. Again, let me congratulate you on giving Decapitated a chance, and thanks for taking the time to comment.

    1. They are badass. I have no idea what they're singing about it, and I'm not sure I want to know. A lot of these angry looking metalheads are real pussy cats off stage, I believe...well, maybe not 'a lot'
